"Divide II raw umber".
Oil on canvas.

This is the second painting in large square format, and features particularly strong brushwork: at bottom a cobalt violet deep hue sits bumpily upon a broken sap green; in middle lines of flesh ochre and naples yellow highlight a brushed light red base; centre top the raw umber splits away with a rising stroke, intersected by the pale yellow lines which run into it.

A painting with good range of movement and (having taken several revisits to arrive at completion) with a particularly interesting surface. I am pleased with tonal structure and colour combination, and most particularly with how the energy of approach has risen to meet the challenge of the work's large scale.
